Group bookings: workshops, farm tours and team building

Looking for a meaningful experience for your group or team this Christmas? Bring them to Kaicycle for a hands on ‘Day in the Dirt’ session at our urban farm.

Kaicycle is a charity that regularly hosts teams and groups at the farm, from Government departments to Girl Guides and everybody in between. Based close to the Wellington CBD, Kaicycle is the perfect place for a day of upskilling and team-building in the fresh air and (hopefully) sunshine! We offer 2-hour, half day, or full day sessions for groups of 5 - 30 people.

A typical ‘Day in the Dirt Team Retreat’
We can make your experience bespoke to you, but a typical day might include:

  • Welcome / warm ups/ health and safety

  • Farm tour

  • Farm and compost mahi (we focus on urgent, seasonal tasks)

  • Mini sustainability workshop

  • Delicious catering from Nourishment by Seeds to Feeds, featuring kai grown at the farm

  • Self directed team bonding time

Our sessions have a cost associated with them in acknowledgement of the time and effort it takes in organising bookings and hosting you at the farm. Without this fee we wouldn’t be able to host groups and carry out our educational and community mahi. However, we don’t want cost to be a barrier to your participation. If the fee is going to provide an obstacle, please reach out and we may be able to find an alternative in kind-donation or offering. Or, you could sign your team up to attend one of our regular weekly volunteer sessions instead.

A cost guide is provided below. Please contact us with your specifications for an exact quote.

When you bring your team to us, you are supporting:

  • Local charities committed  to creating a resilient and sustainable food system, where everyone has access to good nutritious kai

  • Community building

  • Empowering and educating people to grow their own kai

  • Tangible climate action

  • Your business or organisation in meeting their sustainability and wellbeing goals

Plus, you get to upskill, have fun, and boost your hauora through connecting with nature and getting your hands in the dirt - what’s not to love about that!  Our ‘Day in the Dirt Team Retreat’ is a collaboration between ourselves and the incredible charity Seeds to Feeds who provide our delicious catering, featuring produce from our urban farm.

Nourishment by Seeds to Feeds
Nourishment by Seeds to Feeds is community-kai-focused "catering" inspired by good old-fashioned hospitality and manaakitanga. They offer a variety of delicious kai made using seasonal, and locally sourced produce. They aim, where possible, to support community gardens, small regenerative growers and producers, sharing stories from garden to plate. When you are catered at Kaicycle farm, this kai will include produce grown onsite!

“Our menu is dictated by what fresh seasonal produce is being harvested at the time of your event, this means we cannot always tell you in advance what you will be eating but we can tell you it will be fresh, delicious, and nourishing.”

We are taking bookings for spring/summer 2023/24.
For all group enquiries or to secure a booking, please fill out the form below, or email our community manager Rose at community@kaicycle.org.nz

A note on our facilities

Kaicycle is a working farm and does have a number of hazards on site. Prior to your visit with us, we will provide you with the relevant health and safety information. We don’t have any electricity or Wifi on site and we are exposed to the weather. While we have some shelter, we don’t have any indoor space. In the event of a bad weather cancellation we will work with you to reschedule your booking and provide a refund where this is not possible. Our cancellation policy can be found here. We only cancel bookings where the weather is too adverse for us to safely operate.

We are committed to making our farm accessible to all. When you book in for a session, just let us know what your accessibility needs are and we’ll make it work for you! Our farm is wheelchair accessible.

Testimonials

The visit to Kaicycle was an amazing adventure for the girls with everything in the rotation being hands on. What was offered to us at Kaicycle was worth the trip with the girls learning lots of different things in the garden. I would highly recommend this in any camp as it covered community service, eco enviro and self growing of food.

”Doing the work for community.”
”Learn about how Kaicycle runs and their values.”
”Nice activity for engaging with nature and how to make compost process.”
”New experience and environment-friendly.”
