Kaicycle Composting for Households

Weekly drop-off subscription

  • What: You drop off your food scraps anytime to one of our compost hubs.

  • Where: You can subscribe to a compost hub at the following locations:

    • Hospital Rd, Newtown

    • Forresters Lane, Te Aro

    • Adelaide Rd, Berhampore

  • Cost: $20/month for up to 20 litres dropped off weekly

  • How: Use a sealed container of your choice to collect food scraps during the week. Take it to your compost hub at least once a week, to keep things (relatively) fresh. Use the code you’ll receive at sign-up to unlock the drop-off wheelie bin, drop your scraps in, and take a compostable liner to use for your next drop off.

  • Sign up: You can sign up or join the waitlist via the Living Compost Hubs app, or email us at compost@kaicycle.org.nz

Next, we turn your scraps into beautiful compost over a 3-6 month composting process. This compost is donated to local community gardens, marae and schools, and used on our urban farm in Newtown.

What we accept

Please click here to see what we do and don’t accept. We work hard to avoid contamination in our compost, and need your support with this.

We help grow food—not landfills

Kaicycle has been collecting and composting food scraps for Wellington businesses and households since 2015. We are strong advocates for composting systems that operate on a local scale, support urban soil regeneration and food production, and generate a range of benefits for the community and environment.
