Farm Visits for Educational Groups
We’re now taking bookings for Term 4 2025. Thanks to some generous funding from the Nikau Foundation we are able to offer a limited number of visits FREE of charge until May 2026. Email community@kaicycle.org.nz to secure your spot!
We welcome visits from educational groups at our urban farm, from preschoolers through to adults. Each visit includes a farm tour, kōrero, and an age-appropriate practical learning experience (e.g. blindfolded taste test, planting seeds, going on a snail hunt, designing a poly-cropped bed and many more). We can host up to 30 people in one go, and a visit could last between 30 minutes and two hours. Our experiences can be tailored to your rōpū and the learning outcomes you would like to focus on.
When you bring your tamariki or rangatahi to visit to our urban farm, they get the chance to learn about food production, challenge the way they think about food, explore the links between nutrition, health, and the way that food is produced, and think critically about the relationship of the food system to global issues such as freshwater pollution, climate change, and soil degradation. We offer ākonga a chance to connect with nature and the food system in a fun, hands on, and solutions focused way, that engages all of the senses and supports the development of practical skills, critical thinking and eco-literacy.
If you are interested in bringing your rōpū for a visit, please email our Community Farm Managers, at community@kaicycle.org.nz and let us know a bit about your group, what you would like to get out of your visit, and what times would suit you.
Are you an educator of adults?
We can host your group at the farm for a tour and practical learning experience, we can come to you to do an educational talk, or we can run a bespoke workshop for you at the farm or location of your choice. The possibilities are endless! For a farm visit we may ask for a donation to acknowledge the time it takes in preparing for, and hosting, your rōpū. If you are interested in a visit please be in touch by emailing community@kaicycle.org.nz, and we can discuss your visit and any associated costs. A list of workshops we can offer can be found here.
We are committed to making our farm as accessible as possible. When you book in for a session, let us know what your accessibility needs are and we’ll work with you to find a suitable solution! Our farm is wheelchair accessible.
