Food Waste Dropoff - Monthly Subscription

$22.50 every month

Drop off your households’ food scraps at one of our compost hubs around Pōneke and we take care of the rest! Our expert composters turn it into biodiverse compost that we use to grow kai for the community.

How it works

  1. Use a sealed container of your choice to collect your households’ food scraps during the week, please avoid using single use compostable/plastic liners

  2. Take it to your local compost hub at least once a week to keep things fresh (open 24/7)

  3. Unlock the wheelie bin padlock (using the code you’ll receive at sign-up)

  4. Drop your scraps in and add a scoop of the provided coffee chaff to absorb excess moisture

  5. Wash your container at home or on site:

    • Newtown, Berhampore & Aro Valley: running water available to rinse your containers

    • Te Aro: optional bucket swap system provided

    • Thorndon: no water available - must wash your container at home

What we accept

Click here to see what we do and don’t accept. We work hard to prevent plastics, chemicals and other nasties from entering our soils and ecosystems. Please help us create high quality compost by following the guidelines and get in touch if you’re unsure.
